Past President Michael H. Brill
Michael H. Brill
is a member of the Technical Staff of Sarnoff
Corporation in Princeton, NJ. Since obtaining his Ph.D. in physics at
Syracuse University, he has carried out extensive theoretical research
in color in human and computer vision, in geometric/photometric
invariance, and in physics-based vision. Recently the emphasis of his
work has been on display standards and on vision modeling. Dr. Brill
has delivered invited lectures at the University of Pennsylvania, Johns
Hopkins University, Simon Fraser University, Oxford University, and
other institutions. He has also chaired or co-chaired four conferences
on color technology, vision, and digital display. He is a member of the
Optical Society of America, the American Society of Photogrammetry and
Remote Sensing, and the Society of Information Display. He served a
term on the Board of Directors of the
Inter-Society Color Council and is now the Past President of that
organization. In addition, he obtained the 1996 Macbeth Award from the
ISCC for his work on color constancy. Dr. Brill is a member of the
Editorial Board of Color Research and Application, and an Associate
Editor of Physics Essays. Finally, he has just assumed the chairmanship
of CIE Technical Committee TC1-56: Improved Colour Matching Functions.
